Fourteen thousand Dragonflies

Let's devour the bitter taste of our ashes,  
Here they lie for every one to powder themselves  
You sit, as always, quite the knight,  
Telling tales so exquistly beautiful.  
 
You shine your armour when other distractions cease,  
To catch your attention, your affection, your love.  Whispered words of hope drift through the air,  
Majestically hammering themselves into the old Oak.  
 
Still nothing grows, not even this miracle of nature,

No EnvyIt's 3 AM  I've let the minutes  stay till the end of time  a few more for good measure

Don't GoI looked into this room  with cotton wool covered eyes  I trod the path you warned against  I always wondered why

To nothing at allmy friends have been telling me  I can't keep on smiling  It's just not me they say  Well it's not for the sake of trying   
I'm finally doing everything  I knew I should have done at seventeen  But I'm here now singing to myself  reflecting on what my life has been   
every mistake I made was worth it  It was all for a reason really  for everytime I said something I didn't mean  I now forgive myself completely   
Everytime I let myself down  I don't even think about it  Nightmares of all the embaressing things I've done  They don't matter one bit   To nothing at all

One the best bits of advice I have been given in life is choose your battles. Amongst all the other nuggets of information, this one for some reason stands out the most. For the most part, I am a battler - I want to cruisade against the wrong doers. But then again, I am sensitive, and if anyone dares to bite back, it hurts me deeply - in a way that surprises the other person.

So I come back to this over and over my head. Choose your fights, and this one is something I am CHOOSING not to win. In a way that enpowers me, because I am in control of myself, my emotions, my REaction to things rather than my PREACTIVE aggression to people, things, everything...

However, I cant seem to let anyone in still. I cant let anyone know me for fear of rejection yet I reject them before they have a chance to know me, so I become depressed? Sometimes I think that things are nonsensical for women.

Alas, instead I can take some comfort in that I am returning to one aspect of my life.. music. I am currently taking vocal lessons and it has been the best thing I've done for myself in a while. I think its given me some confidence and a good distraction (if only brief) from all the serious stuff in my life.
